Systems and Services

The Liquid Minerals Group Inc. (LMGI) technical service team has more than 50 cumulative years servicing refining, utility, and industrial markets.  As a result of this experience, the LMGI team not only provides the best product technologies, but also provides technical support for the use of those products or advice on alternative strategies for dealing with problems typically found in those industries.  For example the technical experts at LMGI can help answer questions in the following areas:

Refining
  • Fuel blending advice - how can the ASTM spot test procedure be used to obtain more stable fuel blends, which is a better blend based upon economics of components, etc.?

  • Fuel problem advice - are mercaptans, copper strip, or other chemical problems interfering with your fuel sales, etc.?

  • Troubleshooting refinery problems - how can you improve fuel properties, remedy off-spec tanks, what can be done to sell refinery products that have problems, etc.?

  • Analytical problem advice - just what do the analyses you obtain really mean to you and your customers?

  • Utility corrosion and deposit problems advice - how can you maximize the heat transfer in utility boilers and furnaces, how can you reduce corrosion problems in utility boilers and furnaces, what can you do to reduce community concerns about haze and plumes, etc.?

Gas Turbines
  • Filter problems advice - why are your filters plugging more often than they should, what is the cause and the solution to your problems, both low pressure and high pressure filters?

  • Flow divider problems advice - why are your flow dividers sticking, why are your flow dividers wearing, what can be done to extend their lifetimes?

  • Fuel system problem advice - what can be done to improve your fuel system, how will just a small increase in fuel system temperatures improve your system performance, etc.?

  • Fuel washing problem advice - how can the effectiveness of your electrostatic or centrifuge fuel washing plant be improved, what should be done to maintain these units at peak performance, how should the units be run to maximize contaminant removal, etc.?

  • Analytical problem advice - what are the significance of the various tests done on your fuels, what do the results really mean, how do you know your results have meaning, what tests should be done to obtain a better understanding of your fuel, etc.?

  • Turbine corrosion problems advice - although the turbine manufacturer is the primary source of corrosion problem interpretation, what is causing the corrosion, how can you keep your warranty in force, how can corrosion be controlled, etc.?

  • Troubleshooting gas turbine site problems - what can be done to improve the storage tank farm operations, how can the site be run more efficiently, etc.?

Diesel Engines
  • Filter problem advice - why are filters on the engine plugging more frequently than expected, what can be done to improve filter life, etc.?

  • Analytical problem advice - what do the analyses obtained mean, what is significant and what isn't, what tests should be done to obtain a better understanding of your fuel, etc.?

  • Fuel system problem advice - what problems exist in your fuel system, how can they be controlled and corrected, what can be done to make the system more efficient, etc.?

  • Engine corrosion and deposit problem advice - although the engine manufacturer is the primary source of corrosion problem interpretation, what is causing the corrosion, how can you keep the engine running longer, how can corrosion be controlled, etc.?

  • Troubleshooting diesel engine site problems - what can be done to improve the storage tank farm operations, how can the site be run more efficiently, etc.?

Boilers
  • Fuel system problem advice - what problems exist in your fuel system, how can they be controlled and corrected, what can be done to make the system more efficient, etc.?

  • Deposit analysis advice - what if anything do your deposit analyses mean to the operation of the boiler/furnace, how can the manner in which you run your boiler/furnace be improved or modified based upon the analyses, etc.?

  • Boiler inspection advice - what conclusions can be drawn from an inspection of the fireside of a boiler/furnace, how can operations be modified to correct problems found, etc.?

  • Boiler corrosion problem advice - what is the cause of any corrosion seen in a boiler/furnace, how can operations be modified to eliminate corrosion, etc.?

  • Troubleshooting boiler site problems - how can storage tank farm operations be modified to be more efficient, how can the whole site be run more efficiently, etc.?

Pumps
  • Pump problem advice - why are seals leaking, why are pumps wearing quickly, what can be done to solve these problems, etc.?

  • Pump selection advice - what is the appropriate type of pump for any application, how sophisticated should a pump set-up be, etc.?

  • Troubleshooting pump problems - why is a pump losing pressure, why is a pump plugging with debris, etc.?
